Ski Like Ole Award.

Congratulations to Amelia Custodio from Foothills Nordic Ski Club for being the first ever recipient of the very special Nordiq Alberta Ski Like Ole award.

In order to be considered for the #skilikeole award, nominees had to exhibit some of Ole’s amazing attributes that he believed in to his very core. Good sportsmanship, kind, encouraging, hard worker, work harder, love what you do and do it for all the right reasons…no matter how fast or slow you might be.

Amelia had a stand out season, even winning a gold medal at Canadian Nationals in Whistler! But to Amelia, this season was about so much more than just skiing fast and training hard. She truly embraced what @ole_heie believed in. It wasn’t uncommon to see her at the finish line, or even at the wax tents after winning, congratulating and encouraging others in her category:

“I know Ole wasn’t part of my club, and I had never even had a conversation with him, but seeing the impact he had on other people in the community helped me to realize that skiing is not just about being fast, but also about the people and the community you ski with. He helped me to realize that even though this is an individual sport, it is still important to remember that people are more important than just the results.” ~ @amelia_custodio_

This is what Ole believed in. To his very core. Congrats Amelia!

We had so many deserving nominations and we would love to recognize all of you if we could. Keep working hard. Keep being kind. Keep believing in and improving yourself. Keep encouraging others. And always remember why you are doing what you are doing.

Thank you to everyone who nominated a well deserving athlete! We look forward to seeing next years nominees!
